The seminar “Social Market Economy and Policy Reforms in the Central and Eastern Europe Countries” was been held
In 2017, the traditional student seminar on social market economy, carried out by the European Research Association “Oikonomos” since 2013, has acquired regional significance within the framework of the Eastern Partnership + Russia. For its conduct, the city of Homel was chosen, which was symbolic and logistical in view of its geographical proximity to Russia and Ukraine.
November 10 – 12, 2017 16 master’s students of economic specialties from Belarusian, Russian and Ukrainian universities gathered to discuss the reforms in the regional dimension. A comparative analysis of the concept of social market economy and the doctrine of a socially oriented market economy was carried out on the example of Germany and Belarus. The cases of the Federal Republic of Germany, Poland and Russia examined the social-economic reforms and the political bases for their implementation. The problems of the real sector of Post Soviet economies and economic strategy were discussed.
During the practical work of the seminar participants, the problem of the influence of the state debt on the economy was considered, proposals were developed to reform the labor market in Ukraine, to develop an infrastructure for supporting innovations in Russia, to conduct monetary and tax reforms in Belarus, to create industrial clusters in the Belarusian regions.
